Yup, Another Blog

If you're reading this, you're probably thinking exactly what I was thinking when I decided to start this:

"Yup... another music blog."

Fair enough.

The internet certainly doesn't need another person pretending they have all the answers about the music industry. That's not what this is. Over the last several years, I've found myself wanting to talk more openly about music, gigging, production, creativity, and the business that surrounds all of it. The problem is that my social media has never really felt like the right place.

I've always tried to keep my social media fairly positive. I like sharing shows, celebrating other musicians, posting funny moments from gigs, and generally avoiding unnecessary drama. I want people to leave my pages feeling inspired, entertained, or maybe discovering a new song—not exhausted by endless hot takes. But that also means a lot of thoughts have stayed trapped in my head because they don't fit into a thirty-second reel or an Instagram caption.

So this blog is where all of those thoughts get to live.

I'll be writing about the realities of gigging, the music business, producing records, leading bands, dealing with creative personalities, marketing yourself as an artist, and all of the little lessons I've picked up—sometimes the hard way. I'll also use this space to shine a spotlight on bands, artists, albums, and records that I think deserve more attention. Every musician has those hidden gems they wish more people knew about, and I can't wait to share mine.

Don't expect this to be a music theory textbook. There are already plenty of brilliant educators teaching scales, modes, harmony, and composition. Instead, I want to focus on the things you usually only learn after spending years loading gear into bars, writing songs that don't work, producing records, playing incredible gigs, surviving terrible gigs, navigating band politics, and making just about every mistake imaginable.

If you've ever wondered why some bands thrive while others implode, how to become a better bandmate, how to think like a working musician instead of just a hobbyist, or simply want to discover some incredible music along the way, I hope you'll find something worthwhile here.

Most importantly, I hope this becomes a conversation. If something I write makes you think, inspires you, or even makes you disagree with me, then I've done my job. Music has always been about connection, and I want this blog to be another place where those conversations can happen.
